Brasserie Cantillon

Founded in 1900 by Paul Cantillon, the Cantillon Brewery is located in the heart of Anderlecht, near Brussels-South station. What once started as a traditional lambic brewery has grown into a symbol of craft brewing and cultural heritage. Until 2020, Cantillon was the last remaining craft lambic brewery in Brussels.

Today, the brewery remains entirely in the hands of the Van Roy–Cantillon family. Jean-Pierre Van Roy, the founder’s great-grandson, runs the company together with his three children. With a permanent team of six employees, the rich family tradition is carefully continued.

In 1978, Jean-Pierre founded the Brussels Museum of Gueuze, an initiative born from the desire to preserve and share with the public the unique brewing technique of spontaneous fermentation – once considered old-fashioned. The museum has been housed in the brewery itself since its foundation and regularly offers guided tours for those who want to experience this fascinating tradition up close.

Today, the Cantillon Brewery is known as a living legend in the beer world, where history, craftsmanship and family pride merge in every glass of gueuze or lambic.
