Brouwerij Boegbeeld
Brouwerij Boegbeeld, founded in 2015, is led by Janneke Backhuijs Pieters. She is young, passionate and determined to brew beer with character. The brewery, with a capacity of 230 liters per brew, is the ideal location for her ambitions. The first location is located in the historic center of Den Bosch, in the atmospheric Uilenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful streets in the city.
Brouwerij Boegbeeld's best-known beer is Kutbier, a tribute to both Janneke herself and the colorful language of Den Bosch. The beer is a nod to the typical expression of Den Bosch that is often heard in her environment. Janneke, who likes to express her appearance in striking colors and with a lot of creativity, sees the beer as a way to celebrate her individuality. "Looks good, kut!" is a statement that is often shouted at her, and this beer is a playful and tasteful tribute to it.
Janneke studied Food Design & Innovation at HAS. During her studies, she developed a beer for a project called ‘Eigenheid’ that is specifically aimed at women with guts. As a child, she was not a fan of dolls, but preferred to climb trees. This adventurous character gave her the idea to make a beer with a tough combination of red peppers, walnuts for beauty and brains, and honey for softness.
After the departure of her colleague Mary-jane, Janneke has been running the brewery together with her husband Martijn since 2015. Brouwerij Boegbeeld remains true to its vision: making unique and tasteful beer with a daring twist.
