Brouwerij John Martin

John Martin is a Belgian company active in the beverage trade and beer brewing. It was founded in Antwerp in 1909 by John Martin (1886-1966), born in Newmarket, England. The current manager, Anthony Martin, is his grandson.

The company specialized in importing British and Irish beers (Guinness, Bass, Gordon Scotch Ale), often in a special version for the Belgian market. In addition, the production of lemonades (particularly Schweppes, under license) was started in Genval. The castle on Lake Genval, where the lemonade factory was located until 1981, was later transformed into the five-star Château du Lac. It was the cradle of the Martin's Hotels hotel group, led by another of the founder's grandsons, John C. Martin.

In 1993, the Timmermans lambic brewery from Itterbeek was taken over.

In 2015, John Martin opened a microbrewery in the Mont-Saint-Jean farm near the battlefield of the Battle of Waterloo.

In 2016, the Bourgogne des Flandres brewery was opened in the center of Bruges.

Since then, the company has had three brewing locations. In addition, a number of beers, including those of the British type, are produced at other breweries.
