Brouwerij De Block
Brouwerij De Block was one of the six breweries in Peizegem in the 19th century. The history goes back to the 14th century, where Henricus De Bloc received brewing rights in the name of his feudal estate from the Duke of Brabant and Burgundy.
It is Louis De Block who started the current brewery in 1887. He was married to the daughter of the brewer from Baardegem and started as a miller and farmer.
Later he was succeeded by son Alfons who learned the brewing trade at the Martinas brewery in Merchtem.
Afterwards the company was taken over by son-in-law Paul Saerens.
