Brouwerij Pirlot
Guy Pirlot, a hobby brewer from Nijlen, started brewing beer at home in a 50-liter kettle in the 1980s. His home-brewed beer received rave reviews, which prompted him to decide to start an official brewery in 1998. However, it soon turned out that his own boiler was no longer sufficient to meet the demand. That is why he started brewing at Microbrewery Paeleman in Wetteren.
In 2001, Guy Pirlot moved production to De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, where the famous "Kempisch Vuur" beer was brewed, until he could start his own brewery.
After a long wait and bureaucratic procedures, he finally received permission in September 2011 to start his own brewery. He installed his own brewing installation in Zandhoven.
By mid-2012, Pirlot Brewery was able to produce 2,000 liters of beer per week, a remarkable growth from its humble beginnings as a home brewer.
In 2020, Brouwerij Pirlot merged with Brouwerij Het Nest.
