Seasonal beers are not a specific style of beer, but rather a general name for beers that are brewed, sold and/or drunk at a specific time of the year. Depending on the season, they have different characteristics. Among other things, we distinguish these different types of seasonal beer.
Autumn bocks
Autumn bock beer is especially popular in Germany and usually available from October to February. You can recognise an autumn bock by its complex flavour and dark colour. The ingredients are adapted to the time of year, with spices such as coriander, cloves and aniseed.
Winter beers

Saison, the original seasonal beer
In the context of Belgische bieren, we usually associate seasonal beers with ‘saison’. This is not only the French word for season, but also a style of beer from the Walloon province of Hainaut. Saison was brewed in winter so that it could be kept longer. In fact, it was intended for the seasonal workers who brought in the harvests in summer. Back then, saison was a seasonal beer of around 3%, today it is brewed year-round with an alcohol content of between 5% and 6.5%. Discover our selection of saisons here.
