A dark beer from Brouwerij De Leite underwent a special journey to two different locations after the first fermentation. Both brewers decided to mix the beer with the lambic from Brouwerij Oud Beersel. Some of the beer was transferred to Beersel, where it was housed in large wooden barrels, which are also called 'Pijpen' in the gueuze world. These barrels have a capacity of 600 liters. The other part was pumped to the 'Barrieken', wooden wine barrels with a capacity of 220 liters, at Brouwerij De Leite. Both brewers mixed the beer with the lambic based on their own feelings and experience.

During the following period, the enjoyable part of the process began. The brewers occasionally met to taste each other's beer. And as expected, both beers slowly but surely acquired a beautiful natural acidity. The name of the beer refers to the two different methods of maturation. At Brouwerij De Leite the beer is called 'Barrels and Pipes', while at Brouwerij Oud Beersel it is known as 'Pipes and Barrels'.
