Brouwerij Leroy

Brewery Leroy was originally a merger of Brewery Het Sas and Brewery van Eecke.

Het Sas Brewery was founded in 1572 in Boezinge. The brewery owes its name to a lock in the canal where the brewery was located at the time. After being burned down during the First World War, the brewery was rebuilt in the center of Boezinge, where it has been brewing non-stop since 1924.

Brewery Van Eecke was founded in 1624 as a castle brewery for the Count of Watou. After the Second World War, the brewery became known for its line of Kapittel abbey beers.

In 1962, Brewery Van Eecke came into the hands of the Leroy family through family ties.

The cooperation between the two family breweries got better and better and both companies became more and more connected. Brewing is still carried out on both sites to this day, but the bottling of all beers takes place in Boezinge at Het Sas.

In July 2016, Karel Leroy, the 11th generation of brewers, joined the brewery. Later that year, in November, the collaboration between Brewery Het Sas and Brewery Van Eecke was further strengthened by coming out under one name from then on: Leroy Breweries.
