Every year BRAUW releases a limited edition of their Armout Macleod, a powerful Strong Scotch Ale (Wee Heavy). The rich aromas in this beer are mainly determined by the malts, which provide the characteristic caramel notes. For this special edition, the coffee notes were subtly shifted to the background and the beer was given a surprising touch by the addition of salt.

The Armout Macleod is inspired by Armand Maclot (1877-1959), an Antwerp artist and theosophist. After his art training in Antwerp, he came to Genk for the first time in 1899, where he discovered the unspoiled nature of the Kempen region. In 1910 he settled permanently in Genk and had the iconic country house Maison Blanche built there. Maclot was an influential member of the Genk School, an art movement focused on landscape painting with Genk as its central point.

His work can be admired in museums, including the Emile Van Doren Museum in Genk. Maclot is remembered as a gifted painter of nature and landscapes and as a prominent figure within the theosophical community in Belgium.
